In this article today, we have given full information about the differences and types of RAM and ROM.

Complete information about the differences and types of RAM and ROM

If you use a computer, mobile phone or laptop, then you must be lying with words like RAM and ROM. While buying a phone or laptop, we see what is the RAM or ROM count of this phone. But do you know what is RAM or ROM?

RAM or ROM is a processing part of the motherboard. Both these parts are connected to memory. The task of both is to store memory. The full name of RAM is a random access memory, while the full name of ROM is read-only memory. The work of both parts is connected to memory, but there is a difference in the ground sky in both of them.

Differences between Ram and Rom?

To know the difference between RAM and ROM, first of all, we have to understand what is RAM and ROM and what are their functions. Following is the meaning of RAM and ROM.

What is RAM, randomly access memory and how it works?

RAM is called random access memory in flower form. This memory is a short time memory. This memory is used only as long as your device is on.

Once you restart or refresh, all the data in this memory is lost and it starts accepting new data. This type of memory is meant to hold the data in a short time. The RAM is directly attached to the motherboard and is part of the motherboard.

What is ROM, read-only memory and how it works?

ROMs running computers are called hard disks and ROMs running mobile phones are called memory. The job of ROM is to save data permanently.

Once the data is saved in ROM, it does not delete even after refreshing and restarting. Examples of Pendrive, memory cards and hard disk ROMs.

What is the difference between ROM and RAM?

Knowing the meaning of RAM and ROM, it is quite easy to distinguish between these two. Following are the differences between RAM and ROM: –

  • RAM RAM is a short-time memory, while ROM is ROM full time.
  • The data in the RAM remains for only a short time or until the device is refreshed or restarted, while the data of the ROM remains there until it is deleted by will.
  • If you use a laptop, then you must have found that ROM is many times more than the average RAM. This means that the RAM requirement is always less and the need for ROM is relatively high.
  • Both RAM and ROM are parts of the motherboard but without RAM the motherboard cannot function, but having a ROM is not mandatory for the motherboard to function. That is, ROM does not matter as much for any device as RAM.
  • RAM is relatively faster than ROM (ROM-ROM), ROM is much more sluggish. The reason for this is that RAM saves only one image of any data, while the ROM copies the data completely.

Different Types of RAM

RAM is divided into two parts based on its structure. Those parts are: –

SRAM – STATIC RAM

SRAM memory is a memory whose data can be protected only while power is on. This memory is volatile. The address decoder handles this memory.

This means that this memory works on the word line, which is divided into separate laches. In memory, data goes into binary code ie 1,0,1,0.

S RAM is more expensive than other RAM. The simple reason for this is that it works on the most recent system, and that is why it is also used by more people.

DRAM – DYNAMIC RAM

D RAM is much more sluggish and cheaper than other RAM and RAM. Only one transistor and only one capacitor are used inside this RAM.

Whatever data is saved inside it is saved as current, so it takes more energy because continuous recharge is its first need.

Types of DRAM

There are mainly five types of de Rome: –

  1. Asynchronous DRAM – ADRAM
  2. Synchronous DRAM – SDRAM
  3. Double Data Rate SDRAM – DDR SDRAM
  4. Rambus DRAM – RDRAM
  5. Cache DRAM – CDRAM

Different Types of ROM

ROM (read-only) memory is divided into three parts according to its structure menu and data erasure. Those parts are as follows: –

PROM

P ROM is the flower form of Programmable Read-Only Memory. Prom is much different from other types of ROMs because a prom programmer is required to write any type of data on it.

Without this device, it is not possible to write any data to the PROM. The direct difference between prom and other types of ROM is that the prom is blanc i.e. it is not programmed, whereas other types of Rom are programmed while making.

EPROM

EPROM has a flower form, Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory. EPROMs are a special type of memory, which keeps their data protected until exposed to ultraviolet rays.

It is considered one of the safest types of Rome. It can be made reprograms only by ultraviolet rays. This can be done with the help of a special device called a PROM programmer or a PROM burner.

Double EPROM

The double EP ROM has a flower form of Electricity Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory

EPROM is different from other ROMs because it can be reprogrammed only with the help of electricity. Like all other ROMs, it is not as fast as ROM.
